The tool is inspired by the Traditional Chinese Medicine practice of Gua Sha which is believed to aid circulation, reduce inflammation and support lymphatic drainage of the skin. The term Gua Sha is often translated as “scraping”, since the technique is characterized by moving a flat, blunt-sided object against the skin in repeated upward strokes.
